Peterborough Agricultural Society Vision and Mission Statement

The Peterborough Agricultural Society (PAS) is currently revitalizing its mission and creating long term strategic plans.

Our focus is on agricultural education, community partnerships, and fostering a strong, sustainable, and modern local agricultural sector. The society is re-imagining its role, to emphasize education and local engagement, and supported by continuing traditions and creating relevant events to connect communities in agriculture.

Key areas:

  • Agricultural Education & Awareness: The primary mandate is to educate the public on where local food comes from and to support local agriculture.
  • Community & Partnerships: Building new relationships with partners like Trent University, Fleming College, Government, and local agricultural groups.
  • A “New Beginning”: Creating a sustainable, forward-thinking organization that supports local producers and introduces events that explore agriculture.
  • Agricultural Heritage: Retaining the history of the 180-year-old society, continuing traditional events, while adapting to modern needs and finding new ways to celebrate heritage.
